For my troubles, I am the editior of a local newsletter/newspaper for a social group. Nothing slips past the beady eye of the readers – fully paid up membership of this august body. I also gather in ideas for the gardening feature – this is always popular and it reflects the seasons, growing expectations for the locality and tips on how to get the most from a plant. I have been gardening myself for many years, with varying success in some areas. However, I do have a well deserved reputation for being able to make even the most stubborn specimen react to some loving care and attention if it’s performed poorly. Just moving it if potted, to a warmer / shadier / drier spot and trimming off a few of the deader aspects always seems to perk up anything sadly distraught in my garden. Whatever the current position, I trim back what I can, add more good quality compost with some feed and water well. Never leaving standing in water for too long. Then sit it back in a happy spot and await its triumphant recovery.
