Giant Snowdrop Gem Pays Dividends

Giant Snowdrop Gem Pays Dividends

There’s no doubt that spring time is the most exciting as far as gardening is concerned.   Although long hot sunny days invite us to sit in the garden and take in the beauty, the new growth and that thrill of discovering forgotten gems cannot be overstated.  Those baby cuttings you popped into that anonymous looking pot have now grown into proper plants and the shoots of new growth just look so exciting.  I love seeing the snowdrops peeking through – mine are mixed in with long term hellebores of all shapes, sizes and colours but the snowdrops just crown that whole display.  Amid these spectacular hanging droplets of white joy are some giant ones from one plant I bought in a well known garden near me – it seemed expensive at the time but I’m so glad I bought that dear little pot – the results now after five years are most gratifying.  I also have the start of a very pretty rose garden.  Admittedly the occupants will need a much more vigorous prune at the end of the season – knocking back into shape is what’s really required.  As does rather a lot of my plot – work in progress.
